Learn about Victorian Horticulture in the palace gardens

The Palace gardens are a mesmerising place to be. In 2019, the Castle celebrates the 200th birth anniversary of Queen Victoria and provides the opportunity to discover horticulture of the Victorian Era, predominantly featured in floral displays.

Planted in 1908, The Sunken Garden commemorates the styles of gardening typical of the 18th century. If you visit the gardens from April to October, you will be awed! It is the time when the garden is vividly bright with a variety of flowers and rotating flower displays. There is also The Cradle Walk, a shaded arch encompassing the garden. It is an excellent vantage point which provides views of all the renovated gardens, including the Sunken Garden. Wrap up your tour by taking a stroll in the formal gardens. Once a regal playground, it now houses a striking collection of Victorian plants. The stack includes Luma apiculata, Cryptomeria Japonica, Trachucarpus fortunei, Tropaeolum speciosum, as well as several others.

Kensington Palace Admission offers a fantastic experience you cannot forget. Whether you’re a history buff or have a green thumb, book tickets to marvel at all the palace has to offer.
