The Story
The story tells the life of a young girl, Matilda. The musical begins with her birth and moves on to describe her unhappy upbringing as she lives with her TV-addicted family and bears their constant abuse. She is an intelligent child who loves reading even though her family believes that it is a complete waste of one’s time. Due to the abuse she faces, Matilda often plays pranks on people aided by her telekinetic powers. Matilda even plays pranks on her school’s headmistress, Mrs. Trunchbull whom she believes to be a bully. Soon, she develops a strong friendship with her teacher Miss Honey, who admires Matilda’s intellect and almost magical abilities.
